Community Manager Appreciation Day!

OK, so we’re gonna get deep for a minute here. Today, we quote Voltaire.

Many years ago, the great historian, philosopher, and author of over 2000 books (we’ve read them all, we swear), wisely said that, “appreciation is a wonderful thing, as it makes what is excellent in others belong to us as well.”

Here at Pulp&Fiber, there is no shortage of excellence. We’re all pretty terrific. And, typically, we like to share any and all due credits with the group as a whole. After all, there is no “I” in team, right?

However, today we’d like to take a break from that cliché (we’re pretty sure you already know how to spell “team” without us telling you) to commemorate one member in particular: Daniella Gullo, our beloved Community Manager, is coming up on her one year anniversary with the team.  We feel it only fitting that we celebrate her today, on the third annual Community Manager Appreciation Day.

Seriously. This is a real holiday.

Her daily tasks include, but are not limited to, managing numerous social media platforms for high-priority clients, updating the company portfolio, blogging, researching web trends, liaising with designers, account managers, and experiential marketers, as well as clients, and the many Twitter followers who engage her, well, constantly.

Community Manager Appreciation Day was started by Jeremiah Owyang in 2010. And it’s quite obvious why.  The Community Manager acts as the face of the social media effort for most companies. With a firm grasp on SEO, ‘netiquette’, and the ability to pack a serious punch in 140 characters or less, the integration of this role has become increasingly common within a multitude of industries.

Does your company have a Community Manager? If so, let them know what a good job they’re doing today.  Bake them a cake. Buy them a coffee. Or simply write them a note. Just make sure to #hashtag your “THANK YOU” properly when you do.
