Wooden crates stacked to the ceilings, with barrels tucked deep into dimly lit corners. A suit, a pocket square, and a fedora for every man, and a man for every woman. And each woman? Clad perfectly in fringe and feathers.
They swing and sway in time with the music, a chorus of piano, trumpet and cat-scratch vocals. In the dark, patrons sip rum-based cocktails, clinking cups at every fill.
Sounds like the 20’s, right? In fact this scene took place on February 1st, 2012, an amazing 92 years after the prohibition era.
In the 1920’s, North Americans would head southbound to Cuba to enjoy this rich, woody liquor, full of flavor with a touch of sweetness.
This week, Toronto’s finest didn’t have to travel far to enjoy the unique flavors of Bacardi rum. Archeo, located in the heart of The Distillery District, set the perfect scene, welcoming an elite number of guests to Bacardi’s 150th Anniversary party. Attendees sipped on signature Bacardi cocktails like Cuba Libres, Hand-Shaken Daiquiris, and the lip-smacking OakHeart and Cola Sour, while Patrick Tevlin’s New Orleans Rhythm kept the dance floor bustling.
