4th Annual Social Media Day
On June 30th, Mashable is celebrating the 4th year of their annual Social Media Day, an industry recognized event, self described as “a global celebration of the technological advancements that enable everyone to connect with real-time information, communicate from miles apart and have their voices be heard.” Individuals who volunteer to organize and host their city event execute via Mashable Meetups in each local market. This year the global event is sponsored by The Home Depot.
The event is an excellent opportunity for brands to showcase their social savvy prowess, but for marketers in Canada the holiday falls on the Canada Day long weekend, so it’s significance is trumped by patriotism and cottage escapes for consumers. You can follow the social media day fun via Facebook, the hashtag #SMDay or by visiting mashable.com/smday for a recap of all things social.
Will you be “celebrating the connected generation around the world” by attending your local city’s event? What do you think of brands who tap into this social holiday?
